Having great content for online deployment is one thing; bandwith and connection is another. At times great online ideas just do not seem to work because the owners just cannot afford the high bandwidth costs. If you are forced to host your high bandwidth content such as streaming video on external or foreign services, it means that local Internet data centres lose out and the incoming content adds to bandwidth congestion at local ISPs' international links.
ICONex is here to help your online facility or content or business to flourish while minimising on these problems. The idea is to provide low cost local (domestic routes) high bandwidth co-location and server hosting in Malaysia; to be a one hop from every significant ISP in Malaysia at globally competitive prices. ICONeX will also make use of Open Source based online hosting services where all.

Here is a quick guide on how to get moving on your ICONex application:
Make sure you satisfy the prerequisites:
- Malaysian individual(s), societies, associations, NGOs or business(es) operating in Malaysia and "own" a high traffic site (online services, content and applications) and online game servers. "Own" meaning that you have the ability to make the decision to change hosting locations.
- Recipients of ICONedu and ICONity grants.
- Your pilot should be an individual(s), organisation, startup or a SMI/SMEs with annual revenue below RM500,000 (more than that can still be considered on a case to case basis).
- Your intended target should primarily be Malaysian residents.
- You should maintain a .MY domain.
- Incorporated Malaysian registered company or business (Sole Proprietor or Partnership) with at least 51% Malaysian ownership (Form 9 and Form 24 & 49) OR Malaysian citizen (Proof to be submitted in the form of photocopy of MYKAD)
- If you have any history of cybercrime, SPAM distribution, malware distribution or botnets, you will not be eligible.
You cannot use ICONex for:
Botnets, malware, warez, spam, illegal peer-to-peer sharing (exclusion for distribution of declared Open Source or Freeware), usage of VPNs, tunnels and encryption to hide unauthorised activities, repository/distribution of illegal content.

You will respectively be required to provide scan copies of relevant documents when applying as a company, business, society, association, NGO, non-profit organisation or as an individual(s). What to expect next?
The programme process flow will take you through different stages to guide you towards gaining the ICONex advantage.
Stage 1 - Fill up and submit form electronically.
Stage 2 - You will get the official softcopy acknowledgement in 4 working days.
Stage 3 - Your application will be vetted based on submitted information.
Stage 4 - Your submission is approved! If it is not, you may need to resubmit with additional information.
